These actions are due to the presence of an organic acid, the hydroxycitric acid HCA contained in the fruit pericarp (peel), which inhibits the production by the liver of the enzyme ATP-CITRATO-LYSASI, responsible for the transformation of carbohydrates and proteins in fats. It promotes weight loss and reduction of fat cells (adipocytes). This drug is used in cases of overweight, hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia. Useful in case of low-calorie diets to promote weight control and to calm nervous hunger.</p>
<p><strong><a href="/the-herbs-book/pineapple"> PINEAPPLE</a> </strong>: Plant with anti-inflammatory, anti-edema and digestive action. Its activity, due to proteolytic enzymes known as BROMELAIN, makes it ideal in inflammatory and edematous processes, in the treatment of water retention and cellulitis as it is able to stimulate diuresis and promote the reabsorption of localized edema.
