Botanical name: Matricaria Chamomilla                           Habitat:  Europe

Plant parts used: flowers                                                     Active ingredients and nutrients: essential oil containing azulene, salicylic acid, apigenin, mucilage, resin, flavonoids and coumarins

Therapeutic properties: Although it is known as a mild sedative, this plant actually has a strong anti-inflammatory activity in the mosses, given by the action of APIGENIN, a flavonoid. It completes its action thanks to two important properties: it is emollient, so it gives relief in case of irritation of the mucous membrane; it is spasmolytic, i.e. it acts as a sedative of the vegetative nervous system, so it stops contractions and pains in the stomach and intestines, as well as menstrual pains
