This fragrance is dedicated to Caterina Sforza de' Medici, who, at the end of the 1400s, was the first to write a book of recipes for perfumed waters, cosmetics, and natural remedies. Caterina de' Medici was one of the strongest and most intelligent women in history. At the age of 25, she ruled over Imola and Forlì and proved that she could, single-handedly, administer a state, preside over a government, and command an army. However, her dedication to botanical, chemical, and cosmetic studies was incredible. Dr. di Massimo created his first perfume inspired by her story, studying an ancient recipe contained in her manual "Experimenti de la Exellentissima Signora Caterina da Furlj matre de lo Illuxtrissimo Signor Giovanni de Medici." This ancient recipe included cloves, elderflowers, hawthorn, cucumbers, bean water, musk, goat's milk, camphor, turpentine, and civet. Instead, our perfume, celebrating this woman, combines the gentleness of chamomile with the citrusy note of mandarin and the pungent floral scent of tuberose. However, we must not forget benzoin, a resin from Thailand and Malaysia extracted from Styrax, which has sweet, almost vanilla notes and, with its oriental character, remains warm and soft, daring to be slightly provocative. This essence evokes the roundness of the forms and sensuality with which Botticelli painted Caterina in his Primavera.Pungent and penetrating like Styrax resin, tender yet decisive like tuberose, new and ancient like chamomile and mandarin, this fragrance is perfect for the days of every modern queen.
